First 60-minute lessons

Today the first 60-minute lessons were taught by Afroditi, Catherine and Joanna.

Together with the ESL1 students, students from the first year BA ELT class made up the numbers so we had ten students in total.

The level of the materials and activities proved to be well suited to the class, and they had no problem understanding the lesson.

Feedback, Reflection and planning

Copies of written feedback on the previous cycle of teaching practice were provided, along with copies of the video recordings of each lesson. These should be used to inform the reflective journal in your portfolio.

You are reminded to consult the Course Handbook to familiarise yourselves with the requirements for the portfolio.

Next week, we start the 60-minute lessons, teaching Ms Kaoni's ESL class.

The class profile is 9 students:
4 Greek
3 Libyan
2 Albanian

Most of them are nineteen-year-olds, but there are two ladies in their 50s.

Pronunciation will be a particular focus.

As this class is also pre-intermediate, we will use the Total English course that you are already familiar with, starting again from the beginning.

Lessons will be 12 - 3pm, with each teacher teaching for one hour.

The lessons are scheduled as follows:
18 February - Joanna, Afroditi, Catherine teaching (unit one)
25 February - Joanna, Afroditi, Catherine feedback
4 March - Kathy, Kristo, Jonida teaching (unit two)
11 March - Kathy, Kristo, Jonida feedback
